Itching & Scratching

More often than not, common itching problems, hot spots & excessive shedding not caused by fleas, are actually caused by poor diet.  Highly advertised, grocery store commercial diets (and some "premium" diets found at Big Box stores and even veterinarians!) are the most common culprits.

The first step to discovering the cause of the sensitivity is cutting out all the unnecessary, poor ingredients.  That means taking all corn, soy, wheat, & by-products out of the diet.   When a dog or cat is getting poor nutrition from their food, the last organ to receive nutrition is the skin & coat.  This will leave the coat dull, scaley, and loose.  Odor from the ears, chronic ear infections, and issues with hot spots are also caused by poor diet.

Here are some suggestions for those looking to change and improve their dog's diet.

Ingredients to Avoid: Corn, Wheat, Soy, excessive grain fractions, unnamed meat or fat sources, sugars & dyes.

Ingredients to Look for:  Named protein meals (ie: chicken meal), whole grains, whole vegetables.
